What happened during the recent legislative session that will change SEHIP?
SEHIP will move forward as the Health Insurance Partnership (HIP). Health insurance options for small employers and their employees appear in two different health care reform bills. Both amend RCW 70.47A in similar ways:
- SB 5930 - 2007-08 - Providing high quality, affordable health care to Washingtonians based on the recommendations of the blue ribbon commission on health care costs and access.
- HB 1569 - 2007-08 - Reforming the health care system in Washington State.
Health Insurance Partnership Studies
The Health Insurance Partnership contracted with Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. to produce a Preliminary Study by December 1, 2008 and a Final Study by September 1, 2009 for the Governor and Legislature.
